AIM
The Institute of Social Movements and Tobacco History (ISMTH) is a
non-governmental, non-profit organization, founded in the city of
Kavala in 2008.
It aims at highlighting the local, Balkan and European History of
the Tobacco Economy and it researches the various aspects of the
dynamic and extrovert economic activity that generated wealth and
prosperity and brought in touch diverse societies, national
economies and cultures.
The Institute, inspired by a past of fruitful business attempts,
social struggles, unionist activities and political and cultural
fermentations, wishes to promote the idea that the Human Adventure
is common and similar in different places and times and to shed
light in the paths that lead us into a stable, prosperous and
solidary future.
